The Abbey of Lagrasse is divided into two parts as follows :

  1. The part in public ownership, administered since 2005 by the Conseil Général de l’Aude ; this part includes the Abbot’s Courtyard and Chapel, the monks’ dormitory and the north transept of the Abbey Church.
  2. The part in private ownership, also called "Abbaye Canoniale Sainte-Marie" or "Canonical Abbey of Our Lady of Lagrasse", administered since 2004 by the Canons Regular of the Mother of God. Entry : through the large iron gate opening onto the 18th-century courtyard.
This part contains 3/4 of the buildings, including the Abbey Church, the Cloister, the 18th-century conventual buildings, the south transept and the garden (medieval and renaissance).
The canons’ worship, spiritual activities, and reception of the public are all independent of the activities carried on in the part in public ownership.
